2001 deep space
January 8, 2008 on 8:58 pm | In Music, My music | No CommentsI recently mixed two musical drones with the famous sequence of 2001 A space odyssey. The first drone is made with a guitar plugged into FL-Studio, the second with MIDI keyboard controlling a plugin also under FL.
I’m not the first one to do it, but what the hell : I like it
Alas, the guitar drone seems not having been well exported … it seems that the delay settings are bad : the sound flow shoud be more seamless.
It would be great to create a similar video but from scratch, using a program, and why not, even greater, generate non-stop ambiance like this, both in video and music. But the video has to be more than just few animations, it must have persistence like music (some things that stay, other that disappear, and not at the same speed, some spots, etc).

Echoes of June - Part 4 of 5
June 12, 2007 on 7:20 am | In Music, My music, Solo improvization | No CommentsA little bit different from the previous impros.
A little bit the same, too.

Echoes of June - Part 3 of 5
June 8, 2007 on 7:35 pm | In Music, My music, Solo improvization | 1 CommentAs for the other parts, low volume notes can have a deep meaning with the long reverberation. That’s almost what was about in these improvisations : big notes are not more important thant little notes.

Echoes of June - Part 2 of 5

One guitar, long decay reverb and some editing to remove false notes. It is not yet an OvalProcess though.

Echoes of June - Part 1 of 5
June 3, 2007 on 8:17 pm | In Uncategorized, Music, My music, Solo improvization | No CommentsThe first part of my June debut sessions that took part on 2nd and 3rd day of June.
I took my guitar, plugged into FL-Studio and added much reverb, I like the sound of decay of notes; I often prefer it to the sound of the attack.
And sound of guitar is very organic, living, imperfect.
For this improvization I use many open strings, but what’s the matter ?
I tried to play few notes but well, though I also further edited the track on FL-Studio to remove false notes, but again : what’s the matter ? ![]()
It is not a music that invades the listener, so it may actually called “ambient”.

March 25th, 2007 Guitar Drones (part 1)
April 9, 2007 on 5:36 pm | In Solo improvization | 2 Comments
One sunday, few days ago, I was in a loose mood, I recorded almost five guitar drones, using my BOSS DD-20 delay to have echo ambiance, but recording only the dry sound of my guitar into my computer (FL Studio).
Then I just added a delay plugin (“Classic Delay”) and Izotope mastering.
The wasn’t any special intention before playing. It was total loose improvisation, as often when I play drones.

To prevent from false notes, I have a little trick :
I use a volume pedal to silence the guitar so that I can hear the note acoustically, and if it is ok, then I press the pedal. Moreover this also gives the ability to make a fade-in on the notes.
